If you're visiting Ocean City in the spring or summer months, you should certainly visit the beach that the New Jersey Star Ledger ranked as the "number-one beach in New Jersey."  The Garden's Ditrict, where your vacation home is located, is a beautiful and pristine beach where you won't find the boardwalk crowds. Lifeguards are always on duty, and you'll find ample space for your umbrella in this area. With 8 miles of pristine beaches, the boardwalk area beaches are a good choice if the kids are seeking summer time beach friends. A de Celis family favorite beach is the 9th Street Beach.vAll the sights, sounds, and smells of delicious food can be had here along with the majestic view of the Music Pier as it juts out into the Atlantic. Truly a spot to visit at least once for the day.
You can try charter fishing, dolphin and whale watching and sunset cruises with Crystal Blue Sport Fishing, kayaking through some of Ocean City's wetlands and inlets with Ocean City Water Sports and the Wetlands Institute, or canoe down the 129-mile Great Egg Harbor River, home to several threatened and endangered species of plant and animal life.

Ghosts and Lucy the Elephant
Is there any better way to learn about a city's legends and folklore than with a candlelight walking Ghost Tour? The hour and 15 minute tour costs $14 for adults and $8 for children under 12, so it's a relatively inexpensive way to spend an evening "down the shore" (as the locals say).

If you have time, take a trip to Margate to see Lucy the Elephant, a giant national historic landmark where children and adults--even wedding parties--flock to get their picture taken. It's less than a 30-minute ride north to Margate, so you can do it in the morning and be back for lunch.

Ocean City Parasail
You can get a spectacular view of the beach and other Ocean City hot spots from underneath the "smiley parachutes" of the experienced Ocean City Parasail company, which boasts a 100 percent safety record. oceancityparasail.com

North Star Fishing and Cruises
The North Star Fishing and Cruises is more than just a charter fishing excursion. It offers fishing trips available in half-day, full-day and night voyages, but other exciting trips are also available. The company offers whale- and dolphin-watching trips in the back bay. The company's boats can also be rented for private parties.

Pirate Voyages

Take a ride on the Sea Dragon, Pirate Voyages' replica pirate ship that takes stowaways on an hour-long tour of the back bay. The costumed crew offers families an appropriate swashbuckling adventure full of stories, jokes and sea chanteys. During the tour, you must try to decode the map to find a secret underwater treasure. The ship is also outfitted with water cannons for kid's enjoyment.

Atlantic City
For All Things Atlantic City! DOAC  Atlantic City, the east coast's premiere gambling city, is just a dice throw away. Take our short cut, The Longport Bridge, to avoid the congestion of shore traffic. The first boardwalk casino, The Tropicana is less than 20 minutes away. Enjoy fine dining and incredible entertainment and then retreat back to the Jersey shore calm in Ocean City.
